I am having trouble with installing the spindle shaft into the axle tube. I smoothed up the shaft of the spindle. Put new sleeves into the axle tube. slighlt greased both but had to pound until I was tired to get them all the way through the tube. Once in now it's very hard to turn the shafts in the tube.

Is this normal? Was I supposed to ream out the new sleeves?

Thanks
Mike

mdshilli, The fit between the spindle shaft and the tube crossmember should be a nice slide fit. At the very least you should have checked what kind of fit you had before assembly. It is possible that during assembly you could have had a slight alignment problem and burred up the bearing on the opposite bushing on the crosstube. There should not be any serious hammering during that assembly. A little grease inthe bushings and on the shaft should be all thatis required.

It would not even start to fit through either bushing without some pounding so either the Tractor shop installed the wrong bushings or I needed to ream them out some.

I am going to take it to the CASE/IH shop to see if they can fix it.

Thanks
