Don't anyone get me wrong here but we had a thread going about storing tractors inside or out and after someone who is respected on this forum gave his opinion, another person who doesn't use his name responded with "Do your fingers ever get tired?" to the thread....really, that was a reply to someone's opinion! People like this have to realize this is a forum and everyone has the privledge of responding... or not. You do not have to open a topic if it doesn't attract your interest, if you aren't open minded enough to expose yourself to someone else's ideas and opinions then a forum is the last place in the world that you should entertain yourself at. Sarcasm and vitriolic response is tantamount with lack of knowledge and ignorance of the topic, having nothing worthwhile to share with the thread ought to dictate to you to not hit the "Reply" icon. I just think that I have got to know so many wonderful people in the several years that I have been using this forum, and I have never dumped on anyone, and yet from time to time I see what I saw today. This is a fun forum and lets all work to keep it that way. I always sign my name and where I am from so that there is no anonymity to hide behind, my posts and replys are as helpful, honest and sometimes amusing as I can give them and I know that 99% of the people here are the same as I. Thanks friends and no, my fingers never get tired when I can help someone with thier tractors and anything farm and tractor related... oh yeah and even the O/T fun things we sometimes spin...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Michael: I never really get too upset about these types of happenings. I am a quite thick skinned old codger, this kind of stuff runs off like water off a duck. I can take it, I can also dish it out. I can also understand some individuals getting somewhat upset with me. I do tend to be blunt and to the point. I have always believed in calling a spade a spade. Ocasionally this has cost me a lot of money, but I always say why would someone go through life pretending to be something they are not.

If I have any critism of YT forums or it's users, number one would be guys are much too serious. We should be having a lot more fun with this hobby than we do, and by hobby, I call it two hobbies, one being forums the other being fixing and using our tractors. The other critism I have is just what happened in this case, trying to be anonymous What he said didn't particularly annoy me, he tried to hide who he was. Didn't work. I have no problem whatever with guys using regular handles. There are a few guys using several handles for whatever suits the ocasion, yes even arguing with themselves. Kim should put the flight to those guys. She might wish them good bye by suggesting they check in at the funnyfarm.

I am a regular reader but infrequent writer. I searched back and found the post in question and don't see what the problem was. It appears as if someone is just poking a little fun at Mr McKay. It looks innocent enough and is followed by a smiling face. Where is the harm? If it is indeed anonymous, then most likely it is someone he knows making a joke. It may not be anonymous, though. I did a search on AOL white pages and had 250+ hits for people with last name of Phone. I have read McKay's posts for a while and never thought of him as someone who could not take a joke or maybe laugh at himself a little. I guess it boils down to this. OT topics were a problem for some guys but it was decided, thankfully, that they were OK. So OT is OK, but don't inject any levity. Or perhaps we can have some kidding around, but only with certain people. Who decides? The next issue is anonymity. Ban it all together? Let people use "registered" handles? I don't think so. Forums seem more like a bunch of guys on a street corner. Talk about what you want. Tell a couple jokes. Poke fun at one guy and console the next.
Gather info and knowledge. Have a good time.
I'm sure McKay can take a joke with the best of them. Let him.

(and before you ask, YES my fingers are tired)

I couldn't have said it better Mike I always enjoy reading his post, but that doesn' mean I always agree with him. He does always agree with me either, and that is what makes the world go around. I consider both of you my friends and several other people on this forum. Any way you said what needed to be said, and I think you spoke for a lot of us. Jim
