Farmall H 6 volt Yesterday I ran it for 20 min or so showing my Dad my new tractor
He says to me better replace them corried cables so I went and bought new 4 gauge cable and stuck it on ,,,in the process the bolt in the starter came loose while getting the old rusted cable off
SO I put 2 nuts on there and tightend it up (the bottom nut pulls it tight)....anyway IT didnt want to start ,,,acted like it didnt have any juice ,,,and I thought I heard a spark..
My question is could I have moved the bolt in the starter to far up or down to prevent it from working properly?.
The other 2 cables are 6 gauge ...will this matter? I mean to replace them tomorrow

What's happened here is you've twisted the conductor off the bolt that the cable connects to. Take it off and re-solder it or take it to the starter shop. Mguy.

1st rule of thumb for good 6V operation:
Clean, bright and tight!
Get some "0" gauge cables also, those 4 and 6 gauge are a no-no on 6V systems. Make sure you have a good ground as well.
