674 Engine Balancer Timing (D239)

The I&T manual states to locate No. 1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke.Locate mark on crank gear with the mark on the balancer gear.The only way i can get the marks on the crank gear at the bottom where i can see them is to put No. 2 piston at TDC.
Please help me.There must be something im doing wrong somewhere along the process.Thanks A-LOT.

Sorry can't help you. Never had engine balance off my brother's 684.

Hi JB, put the 2 cylinder on TDC. You can see the timing mark on the balacer ring gear. Bernard le mécano Québec Canada
