Sometimes when I am at home I catch old flicks on the tube and this morning I watched "In The Heat of The Night" starring Sydney Poitier...I've seen it about three times but the reason I post is that there are several excellent scenes from a 1960's International dealer. The town's mayor is an I-H dealer and the chief of police has to go to the dealership to talk to him several times, each scene is in a different location on the premises and you see several tractors and machinery outside the door as well as a scene in front of a combine...when you have already been exposed to the plot you see things that you didn't notice before and there's lots to notice..an interesting glimpse of the past.....Mike in Exeter Ontario

The movie was shot in Sparta, IL which is about 15 miles from where I live. The dealership closed about 12 years ago. I was in the dealership several times with my uncles when I was a kid. The owner is the mechanic using the acetylene torch in the shop. The owner's daughter is one of the people that walk past the windows in one of the scenes. Jess's Garage where Mr. Tibbs stayed and got his car is outside of town. You can still see the sign painted on the corrugated metal siding although it is getting pretty weathered.
