does the 444 have any kind of safety switch associated with the hi lo shift? i found the one with the clutch but it seems there may be one besides it.

I have a 1968 2444/444 and the only switch is the clutch safety switch. Mounted on the clutch housing just above the mid point on the clutch pedal. Wires do go back past the tranny to the rear lights and battery though.

None that I have seen associated with the high-low, why would it need one? The switch under the clutch means you have to depress the clutch before the starter will work, safety feature to keep you from starting it while in gear with the clutch released.

I have a IH 354 which is the series after yours and the clutch safety switch is the only one on mine.
