belly mower AND a 2pt FH on a 140??

Hi All,

I've been thinking about the possibilities of adding a 2pt FH to my 1961 Farmall 140. I currently use a woods L59 in the summer for mowing and front blade in the winter for snow / grading, etc.

Would either of these implements interfere with the 2pt FH mechanism? I do have the tie rod and rocker arm hooked up, just no actual hitches...

Thanks in advance,
Pete in PA

Pete: You say 2 point fast hitch, are you planning to modify and fabricate a 2 point to fit the 140. The factory fast hitch for a 140 is just 1 point. I'm not saying this can't be done using the 2 point hich from a SC or 200, and with a bit of modification may work better than the 1 point with belly mower. Is your mower powered from the pto shaft or from the belt pulley shaft? My first concern is, will the 2 point hitch frame from a SC or 200 fit between the final drives of a 140? I don't know. Do you have any photos of the tractor as it is currently?

Hi Hugh,

First let me say that I've enjoyed reading your posts over the years, and want to thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge!

I had thought of fabricating a 2pt FH, but could go w/a pt too, depending on difficulty level of making a 2pt work. 2pt seems more versatile to me, and more secure...

My 140 is currently set up with front blade, but the L59 belly mount is rigged to a belt pully off the side of the PTO housing, under the seat. I see where you're going with this I think...the belt would compete with the same space needed for the 1ptFH?

any thoughts / creative ideas? No pic available right now...

Pete

Pete: One item I have always wondered, was if a two point from a SC or 200 would fit between the final drives without modification. You could pull it with the same device as used on the one point, and lift it behind with the one point rockshaft.

You should also take a close look at an aftermarket 3 point hitch. I have a fabricated 3 point for my 130, I like it much better for pto drive items. plus there are a host of 3 point attachments a 140 would handle, available today in 3 point hitch
