Ok, got a carb that came on the '49 C, I cant find any ID on it, so Ill descrive it to the best of my abilities.

Distillate, but will run on gas!
Has tuncock in back for draining bowl?
Has needle valve that points forward
HAs needle valve that comes out of the side at an angle.

Float looks like to spearate floats, but there attached.

There were gas and distillate/kerosene versions of one Carter and two Zenith models. They have some differences, but in general are hard to tell apart unless you are familiar with all three. Other than trying to look up any numbers that may remain, the easiest way to tell what make and model it is to take the gasket between the bottom and top parts to your Case-IH dealer and compare it with the drawings on his computer, as the gaskets from all three are different. Marvel Schelber (sp?) carbs were used on the A and B and will also fit your C, could also be one of those.

Just take half of the carb with you to the Case/IH dealer or even the entire unit. With the entire carb there it will make it easy for them to identify it.

That works too, but the gaskets are very carb specific -- that's all you need.
