Awhile back maybe 6 mos. I read somewhere that their is a level/fill plug on final drives of 66,06,56,86 and 26 series tractors, I have a 1066 and 826 can't find it on either tractor. If this is true could someone please post a pic of it? I might be needing glasses or I can't see the trees because of the forrest. Maybe even a better description of where it is.

Hey Jeff!

I believe the 1066 was new enough that IH opened up the housing inside and oil from the main housing ran through to the finals and eliminated the need for the plug. I'm not sure about the 826 though.

If they are on the tractor they are located on the rear face of the housing that bolts onto the main housing. Look up and forward of the torsion anchor point for the 3 point hitch.

Another easy way to tell if you have the ports is to check the axle housing for grease zerks on the end. The zerk will be on the top right next to where the axle shaft comes out.

Hope this helps!
