That sounds like an ignition problem. If you have a magneto then the batery cables probably wont help much. Look at your points and check that they are gapped properly. Your coil could be the problem also. Without a strong spark it will flood very easily. that is what it sounds like you are having problems with. I fought the same fight on mine for a couple of weeks. I pulled the mag off and completely went through it put it back on and it was worse. Pulled it off and checked it again couldn't see anything. Put it back on and it has ran like a top ever since. One little hint. If it ever sets out cover the mag or distributer with something to prevent moiture from getting in places that can cause you trouble. I cut a plastic gallon milk jug so that it fits around the mag on mine and it saves a lot of problems. Not real pretty but it is easy to take off if I don't want someone to see it. My dad always kept a peice of an inner tube on his.

I had this problem with my C a couple of years ago. Part of my problem was the carb was not set right and it would flood itself. Sometimes it would actually leak gas out of the carb. The other thing I changed about that time was my battery cables. I put on heavy gauge cables just like Hugh MacKay recommended. I also made sure that I had a good ground connection. That made my 6v C spin over just about as fast as my 12v C. Best thing that I ever did to it.
