IH 1086 question

Our farm's 1086 seems to wobble when being driven. This is especially evident when in road gear. My initial guess is that it has a bent axle. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be something else? If it is the axle, how hard is this to replace? I hate to even ask for a ballpark estimate on cost.

Thanks for your help,
Chad

It may be as simple as the tires not being perfectly round. The large rear tires on most tractors are nowhere near round, and the tractor will wobble back and forth as you go down the road. Usually it's not noticeable at low speeds in the field.

Check all of the bolts on the hubs. I know a guy with a 1466 that thought he had a wheel bearing out. Turned out the the hub was wobbling on the axle. Have somebody watch the tire and axle as your slowly drive it. See what part is moving.

What kind of tires doe's it have if they are not bias it can be from the tires or the bolts that tighten the rim to the cast may have been tightened wrong they have to be tightened evenly or the rim will not be strait on the cast
