Just wondering, I see alot of questions from guys doing restoration work who obviously don't have a manual. In my estimation this is strange. The first thing I do is pick up the parts and operator manuals. If you are willing to spend hundreds and in the case of doing it right, thousands of dollars on a project, doesn't it make sense to get the books first??

True, lots of folks don't need manual in order to work on these old tractors, because of their vast knowledge & years of experience. We have parts manuals for every tractor we own. They're helpful in disassembly/assembly and when ordering parts.I seldom buy the IH service manuals unless it's a bargain.I.T. manuals are good for torque values, minor adjustments, etc. Another thing to think about is, if your somewhat inexperienced, are willing to spend the money to get the tractor of your dreams & restore it, the $30-45 for at least a parts manual is a small investment.Another good point that has already been made is, there's untold amounts of knowledge on Y/T discussion forum & these people are always willing to help. Y/T is second to none!!!

two things, first of al some of may not need a manual to do a restoration job.Myself,I could use them from time to time myself, but for the most part dont really need one.Now say if I was working on an old Oliver or John Deere or something then most definatley YES,I would buy a manual.Second, why buy manuals when there are such great places like YT to get the info you need!;)

I have some manuals, but don't always use them for every single thing I work on. Basically I bought the I&T shop manuals for the specs on head bolt torque, etc. The instructions in I&T aren't always really clear...

I am restoring an A for a person I know and I don't know whether or not he would pay to buy the IH parts manual or not. It would be handy, but isn't really necessary for me. Although with some CaseIH dealers you need to have the part numbers because some parts guys just aren't bright enough to use the old books... "this doesn't seem to be showing up on my computer?"

Well, if you need to check something out in the Parts Manual for the "A", then click on the Manual link below.

Yes, the server is primarily for Cubs, but I happen to have the TC-26E Parts Manual for the A-B's on the server as well.

Happy reading

I have wondered about the no manual restorations also. First we have to undersand what the meaning of restoration "IS". To me when I hear the word restoration I am thinking "Doctor Job".
