Mahindra quality International connection

I'm considering buying a Mahindra 3505 tractor when I retire my 45 year old Farmall next spring (2005). The Mahindra has 35 hp with power steering. They have a very similar look to the International's of the 70' & 80's. How well does a Mahindra perform? Are there connections to the International brand? Are parts interchangable or available thru a Case International dealer?

Hope someone can help with these questions.

Mahindra builds several models based on the B- 414, 424, 444, etc design and they are excellent tractors with many parts common with the older IHC models. However, Mahindra also builds some models based on a modern China or Korea design which are of unknown quality and completely different from the IHC based tractor design.

I think they are better than the Chinese tractors. One of the CaseIH dealers in PA sells Mahindra because of the relationship with the older IH utilities. Not all CaseIH dealers would be willing to sell you parts, though, I'm sure.

I know someone who buys parts for his IH444 from Mahindra, cheaper than IH and From what he can tell the same part without the IH package and stamping/casting number. I will do the same when mine needs any more parts.

Case IH buys most, if not all of the parts for the identical IH machines from mahindra, and as usual raises the price (I see nothing wrong with that) You can get the Same part thru a Mahindra dealer for quite a bit less than thru Case IH..

Bill, A quote from their brochure" In 1963 M&M formed a joint venture with IH to manufacture tractors carrying the Mahindra nameplate for the Indian market. Armed with engineering, tooling and manufacturing know how gained from this relationship, M&M a major auto manufacturer developed its first tractor the B-275.This succesor to IH"s incredibly popular B-414 is still the basis for current Mahindra models." I have looked at these tractors and they seem to have good quality!

I looked at a 5500 ( I think ) Mahindra tractor at the Louisville farm machinery show. From the bell housing back it was identical to my IH444.

There is a connection with International in the B-275 and B-414 (and others).

I can't remember what a dealer told me, however. I believe he said Mahindra built those for IHC. Don't quote me.
