I went to Radio Shack for diode. They only had 1N4003 diodes so I bought two of them. I came back by a truck stop and bought a side marker light. I tried the marker light first. I idled the engine up a little and it started charging and light went out (proof that warning light was too small). I did not want to mount a marker light on tractor so I put the diode on the wire and it works fine. "Relief"

Thanks so much for the lesson in tractor wiring. It has been a very valuable learning experience for me. I am keeping all of our correspondence in a file for future use.

1N4003 .. I one amp, 300 v P.I.V. diode. Perfect! You can put a 470 ohm, 1/2 watt resistor in parallel with the lamp too. This will give you enough bias. After a point, you'd need the diode anyway - your voltage backfeed won't let you shut the engine off otherwise.

Personally, learing is what I enjoy about all this. Stick with it.
