I am new to tractors and recently purchased a Cub Lo Boy 154. It started up, with some difficulty when I first got it back in December. Seemed like choke issues. We had a terrible cold snap here in the Northeast but I went out and started the tractor after a few weeks sitting idle and it turned right over and started. Ran for about 45 seconds and stalled. Took longer and longer each time to start it, and it ran for less and less time each time it started. There is a full charge on the battery. Now the tractor just makes a buzzing sound when you turn the ignition. Have I burned out the starter or generator? Any suggestions, thanks!!

I had the same problem a few years ago and it turned out to be the fuel sediment bowl. It would start right up and stall after a few seconds. Essentially it was running out of gas each time. I cleaned the bowl and everything was fine after that.

Glen:

The best place to get some good responses is on the Cub Number Series user groups and at the home page :>Link

However, from what you describe, your battery is dead which probably means you are not getting a charge. The problem could simply be that you need to polarize the generator, or the prob is somewhere in the starter circuit.

I have a limited section on the Cub 154 Lo-Boy on the manual server at the link below. Owner's Manual, Parts Manual and a 54 Blade Manual. Hope that would be of some help.

Cheers

When we have colour we tend to copy or scan in colour. Most of the manuals however, except for the cover pages are almost uniformly black and white.

If you open some of the files in Microsoft Photo Editor or Corel Photo House, then the zoom feature will allow much more access to the details. That should help a lot.

Glad they are of use to you.

Cheers
