Water jacket on a H

Here's my problem, I am in the process of a total rebuild on a H Farmall and when I removed the left side cover on the engine to look inside the water jacket, I could see the cylinder sleeves. Now that dosen't sound bad but, unless I am mistaken, the H has dry sleeves right? If in fact it does, What could I do to put it back like it should be? (some kind of metal welded back in between the jacket and sleeves) As my screen name says, I mess with mostly Deere equipment but I love all of them. Any help is appricated.

Nebraska Cowman is correct -- Probably more surface area for the water that way. You can still get a new cover from Case-IH, yours is probably shot.

unless someone has done major surgery to your h you were not looking at the sleeves but the outer jacket around them. That's what makes them dry.

That's exactly what I am looking at. I just couldn't explain it the way you did. Have you ever tried or heard of anybody replacing or fixing those outer covers before? thanks again.

Should be able to find one on E-bay or your nearest salvage yard.
