I am embarrassed to admit that I went out to get the SH ready for this spring and for the first time she refused to start. I admit I have been using a newer deisel but I need the SH especially for planting. I have made sure the carb is ok because she sputterd and ran rough so I thought it was bad gas. What is the chance that the points went bad just sitting she is under cover in N Florida. In 20 years never had this happen. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Super Hank, before you go to all the trouble of replacing ignition parts, take some fine sanpaper of emery cloth folded over and place it between the point breakers and sand the surface for several minutes by wiggling the abrasive back and forth. I have to do this with the M when it sits for too long, it buffs up the points and it runs like new again..... Mike in Exeter Ontario

could be that you have lost some of your spark. It sounds stupid but my super A did it last winter. Had to put a new mag on it. Good luck

North Florida - warm days, cool nights, humidity -could be condensation in the cap.

sounds like a rusty gas tank, plugged sediment bulb, or carb. inlet filter. DC

Points can corode from just sitting and plugs can rust also I'd do a tune up on it, could even be a bad dist. cap or rotor

I agree. Humidity in south GA is similar to yours and it kills electronics on lawnmowers, generators, tractors, and older autos if they aren't run regularly. Cap, point, and spark plug corrosion are usually the culprits.
