I have a 53 Super A, and have used it thru the winter for snowplowing. I would like to do some maintenance in the spring, and have the original service manual. However, it doesn't really explain about how to tighten up leaks, etc...seems like it's very oily. Is there a logical sequence/procedure and some shop tips on how to replace gaskets, etc..? I think the service manual assumes the operator has a lifetime of experience, which I don't.

First step would be to clean the oil and dirt off to see where the leaks atually are. then get replacement gaskets from IHC if only a few are needed. several other companies sell gaskets sets that cost about 40% of IHC sets.

You can get a shop manual from I&T and it will give you step by step info on just about every part of your machine. Good luck

Go to napa and get this stuff it is really gooy it is a gasket sealer. Take the cover or area apart were the gaset leaks if the gasket rips you will have to replacethe gasket but if it doesnt put this gasket sealer on and it will stop leaks. Or your other opion is find an IH dealer for parts and get a complete gasket set for the whole tractor.
