I parked my 966 last fall inside my shed. Iv"e replaced some wiring, replaced all filters, and replaced the injectors. Batteries are charged up fuel filters and injectors are bled. Tractor rolls over with some smoke, but won't fire or start. Iv'e bled the injectors and filters a couple of times, but still won't start. I was wondering if the injection pump is weak enough that it won't send the proper pressure to the rebuilt injectors, making the engine not start. Please Help! Thank-You in advance Chris

It did run before you replaced the filters and injectors, didnīt it? Are you shure you have the right fuel filters? If a diesel is hard to start after injector change, it can be a big help to use some starting fluid so the engine starts up. It can be difficult to bled some injectors with just the starter. Try that. Reply if you have more problems.

Smoke is a good thing. The tractor just needs some more battery power to get it going

My dad's had some starting problems until I replaced the two 6 volt batteries with one huge 12V that looked like two 6volts joined side by side.

Really turned that tractor over and started right up, even when freezing

we got new batteries for our 1066, whoever brought them home and hooked them up didn't realize he had 2 12v batteries. Thought the starter sounded funny and when I told everyone they told me I was full of it till they got out a voltmeter. I think that's the fastest I've ever heard a cold IHC start though.

Trick i've used in the past is to hold the track torch in front of the grill where the air intake is, 1066 fires right up quick sucking in that hot air. Takes a lot of flame though not gonna do it with the acetylene torch.

Check the lever on the side of pump where the throttle hooks on and make sure the spring is not broke and not getting fuel all way. also check the hose fromthe filter to the pump - may be crakced and sucking air. Sounds like you are getting fuel but not enough to run on.

If it has a block heater, try plugging it in for about 3 hrs. Those older girls liked to be warmed up.

Chris, From Tiome to time my ol' 966 will loose prime it seems. I know you said you bleed the injectors & filters. Are you keeping the line pumpped up with the pump on the side of the injector punp?. Also When starting.... Keep your Fast Charger on the batteries, on High! Maybe even a pickup or two with cables. The problem maybe you are not turning the engine fast and long enough to get everything back to Tall! Have you ethered it also....Just be careful, don't load the engine up on it.
Good luck, Hollar if I can be of help!
John A.
