I just got my head back from repair shop. Ihave had it off for 2years and do not know exactly how to put this back together.how to find #1 tdc how to set valves to get running. Please respond. What manual should I buy? Do I even need one?

if you are talking about valve timing you can't mess that up by having the head off. when you bolt the head down you will need to adjust the "valve lash" that is the adjustment on the little screws on the rocker arms. somewhere around .022 clearence. This is to make sure the valves shut all the way. TDC is when the front piston is at the top with both valves closed. that is the point when spark and ignition occurs, (accualy just a few degrees before in a running engine) Nahh, you don't need a book, tighten the head bolts starting with the center ones and work your way out. then go back over them again. several times. the key is to tighten it EAVEN
