#3 cylinder,it starts up great runs maybe 4 or 6 seconds and starts missing, just on that cylinder.I thought maybe a valve problem since I just put new, plugs, wires, points, condensor, cap and rotor.Compression was pretty equal on all 4 so I pulled the valve cover and all of them were set near perfect. Now,I started it back up and pulled one wire at a time off and on #3 you can see a spark jump, but not all the time, when it sparks, the plug fires and the tractor perks up for a second or two and all this starts back up. Ithought mabe a bad plug or maybe a bad wire or even a bad cap,but after changing the plug with another plug on the tractor and same for the wire, and taking the cap off of my restored M and it doing the same thing I dont think any of that was bad. When I put the cap from my H on my M it doesnt skip on #3 like on the H so I can rule that out.Could it possibly be the lobe on the point shaft is work just on #3 and not letting the points open enough on that cylinder.Oh,almost forgot, this is jus at idle, when I get above half throttle,it clears up and runs fine and its a distributor ignition. Thanks!

Cubber,

How about the shaft bushings?

Just a thought,

Allan

Cubber, I don't know if this would help, but I would open that plug up about .002 more and force the spark. Much like holding the wire off of the plug to force the arc. This won't answer your question, but maybe it will solve the problem. Hope this helps.

Yea Ithought of that, but its not firing at all sometimes, and sometimes it does fire.I was holding the plug wire about 1/4" from the dist.cap when I saw the intermitten spark.Im bring home my calipers tomorrow to check the lobes on the points cam.
