We put a new clutch and pressure plate in the H and had the flywheel turned to smooth out the surface that contacts the clutch. when its all back together, the pedal has around 2.5 inches of travel (measured from the edge of the deck straight out to the pedal) book says its supposed to be around an inch and an eighth. the tractor has not run in 15 years and i haven't had it all that long and i don't know how far it went before. is there any chance we did something wrong to make it that far off with the new stuff or was it probably just adjusted before to compensate for wear? thanks

Presuming that the clutch disc is not in backwards and the throwout bearing is not reversed, you always need to adjust the clutch pedal travel when replacing parts.

I agree. I had to adjust mine about that far when I replaced the disk and pressure plate. Does it hold and release correctly once it is adjusted properly?
