I was told last week that I had a Factory LPG SMTA sitting in my backyard. I was refered to Tom Harp and emailed him #'s and pictures. He believes this to be one and told me what little is known about them. The serial # is 65054 DS and the motor # is 118414 D. I was told that 500 high compression models (2500-E, 5000-D) were shipped from the factory to a subcontractor and then to the dealerships. Is there any other history or records you may have come across on these?

I've just purchased a factory propane MTA, the more I can find out about them the better. My serial number is 79178. Everything on mine appears to be factory, but I've never been around a bubble burner before.

Factory LPG tractors actually came from the IH factory with the equipment. Tractors could and were shipped out to other firms for conversion, but by that time they weren't "factory". They would have the proper letter codes as far as I know.

The tank has an IH valve assymbly on it. The mounting brackets for the tank look factory and the hood is factory cut. Its definatly not a scab job. Do you know of any SMTA's that rolled off the line with LP in 54 with the LP suffix code? Or could this have been their trial run for the 400 LP in 55. Seams like the SMTA was the test model for the 400.

Guy can expand on this, but the suffix for LPG is C. D is 5000 foot altitude and S is TA with provision for 540 rpm PTO.
