hydraulic verses hy-trans

I lost some hydraulic fluid when splitting my smta,want to top it off but it looks like pure hydraulic fluid in good condition.I have about 2 gallons of hy-trans left over can I mix the two? Paul.

No problems topping up with hytran, the two oils are totally compatable. You can even run engine oil in your hydraulic system with no problems, caterpillar even specifies this in their manuals. hyd. oil is the most basic oil around, just mineral oil with anitfoaming agents, thats why it's so cheap. Just don't use straight hyd. oil in your tranny/hyd. system. Top it up with your hytran and don't loose any sleep.

Probably, but if you are not sure what is in the reservoir is Hytran, you should drain and refill.
