Gerry: I think the Farmalls going to the UK was an evolution. I think originally whole tractors were exported. As the Doncaster plant began production more and more tractor components were manufactured there. It is reasonable to assume that the Doncaster plant was in full millitary production during the war.

Having lived near Halifax, Nova Scotia most of my life, I can tell you many good machines of all descriptions went to the bottom of the North Atlintic both in war time and peace time. The North Atlantic is a vicious spot. The last such happening I heard tell of was a number of D8 Caterpillars broke loose in the hold of a ship. It was either be sunk buy those tractors sliding around on the steel deck in the hold, or tipping the tractors overboard. Those instances were only mulpiplied by the war, only then they often were sunk. Yes there is cargo out there and some of it only couple hundred miles off Halifax. I would be willing to bet there are a few Farmalls on the bottom out there.

The International grille emblem denotes the fact that the tractor is the industrial version. I don't know if there were actually any industrial Bs but there were quite a few International As built, and the badges would easily interchange.
