Does anybody out there have any experience in putting a IH 153 power unit engine in a Super A? I know it can be done, I don't know how much trouble it is?

Pretty simple conversion for a 153 power unit motor. Machine a bushing to adapt to a pilot bearing to the flywheel since a power unit engine does not have a pilot bearing. Cut off alittle of the input shaft and everything bolts up. I think you loose one bolt hole to the bellhousing.

Hugh,

I'll look at the friend's "A" tomorrow. As near as I can recall, there was nothing too major required to attach the front end.

The C-153 came off of a 230 windrower.

Bob: I know the C-135 engine will bolt up to the Super A front end. The only reason I questioned the C-153 is I'm just not sure. I am looking also at putting a C-135 in my Farmall 130. However on the 130 with C-123 engine the block is exactly same as C-135, thus all I really need is the C-135 crank and rebiuld piston and sleeve kit. Quite possibly I need rods, I'm not sure on that one yet.

A friend of mine bought a C-153 from me and did what "Simple" says, and it has worked out well for him.

A couple of other issues: The water fittings won't match up to the radiator without some modifications, and the governor on the C-153 will probably be set up to run a lot faster than the tractor's original engine.

Spector 44 : C-153 in a Super A, I rather doubt it, C-135 possible if it has the right crankshaft.

Yes...it will work. I have one.
You will need to add spacers under the radiator to raise it as well as the gas tank. Turn that governor back like Bob said...it will be a real hot rod.
I have yet to get an air cleaner on mine...the block is not drilled and tapped for it as well as the manifold being a little different. Have fun.
