Clutch linkage problem

My clutch pedal on my superC does nothing when I push it in. Have to start her in gear to move anywhere. The clutch itsself is about a week old, and it did this before the clutch was replaced as well. Our mechanic welded something on the clutch plate and it fixed it until now. He never really told us what he did...

What could this problem be? We are waiting on diagrams from the manual to try and figure out where in the linkage the problem lies.

Thx!

Tim,

There is a sleeve that guides the throwout bearing holder that sometimes comes loose. It is press fit into back of the bellhousing. That might be what he welded in. I have seen clutches quit working when it comes loose or they make growling noise.

When the truck I drive at work had about 50,000 mi. on it the clutch fork broke this could be your problem and the mechanic welded it?

Sounds like excessive wear on clutch pedal, shaft and mechanical parts all the way up to the throw out bearing. Had the same problem with a 52 M. A little here and a little there and pretty soon it all adds up to a lot. Let us know what you find.

Hey when you do a tractor clutch it is best not to F around with these thing go out and buy yourself a brand new kit put brand new parts in and you should be golden. What coul have happend it you even put the disk in backwards that would make it so you have no clutch. Also you cluc disk plate could be fused to your fly wheel because something was done wrong. But if I were you go out and buy yourself a brand new kit the kit is cheaper to buy everything to buy things seperete.

Tim: Did you replace clutch disc, presure plate, release bearing and pilot bushing? Just exactly where did welder do the welding?

we got a clutch rebuild kit from hugh gardiners (spelling is wrong). It included clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing. Don't remember about pilot bushing, but probably. The welder never really said what he did. He said he welded something, and the welding was done on the clutch plate. He said that the welding would make the weak clutch last for another month or so, then we would have to replace the clutch. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Tim: This clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, etc.; was it new parts? If you are dealing with old parts that were only going to last another month with welding, and I can't imagion what you could weld, there is not a whole lot anyone can do to help you. If clutch parts you brought home needed welding, I hope the guy paid you for disposing of his junk.
