Hi, I used to know quite a bit about farmalls untill a accident. Now things tend to slip my mind easly. But this is my question I recently picked up a SM and the serial #s are as follows bell housing L-506045 DJ, Engine 39527 D, Head 8060 DC, Ok I thought that most engines matched the bell housing # Or is this not true . Also I have heard of the 8060 D but what is the C for on the head any info On this tractor would be helpfull. THANK YOU

Only on ceratin models, within certain serial number ranges, will the engine and chassis numbers match- and the Super M wasn't one of them.

On the 8060-DC, the C means the third change from the original head as far as the design- with the changes counted meeting a certain criteria.

Buck - Yours is a Louisville built Super M.

We have one each Louisville and Farmall Works built Super M's. Both were purchased new in 1953. It appears no attempt was made to match the engine/tractor numbers on either tractor.

Someone else will have to help you on the head number question!
