i bought my 1466 when it was four years old.i turned it up to 210 hp and it would pull anything that you hooked it up to, but something would break about every year. twisted off a bull pinion shaft. broke the differential housing and side gears in the differential, a couple of transmission gears and two ring and pinion sets. the first ta lasted fifteen years because we never needed to use it. ten years ago i set it back to 160 hp and haven't broke anything since.

If you go a cpuple pages ahead, i put up a post about the 1066's and got lots of replies. Not much different on the 10's and 14's i don't think. That info should help you out.

They are a good old tractor even if ya have to do the clutch and T/A , the only problem that i have seen is that if ya tweek them to much and run duals and do a lot of tuning under load they will eat the side gears out of the rearend. and since you are in the corn belt most of them that i have bought out your way are already tweek some up over 250 most around 200

Yeah, I know someone who bought one new and turned it up 250 and pulled a 7 bottom plow with it, and pulled a 32 foot disc many years. he has had alot of luck with it. But i didnt know if they all were that great. Thanks for the info

Good solid tractor, can be turned up easily but wouldn't want one that has been and worked hard. We have never had any specific recurring problems with rear ends on the ones we have owned (5). Did lose the rear end on one (don't recall the specifics) that was on a dozer blade. Good field tractor but a bit big and clumsy to be used as a loader tractor.

The 1466's are great old tractors. The only poor thing about them were the deluxe cabs. These cabs were monsters. If the air conditioning doesn't work, take the doors off in the summer or you'll bake!. If you can find a fender model tractor they look really awsome!

doesn't take much to pull cab and put on fenders.
