Super A Rear end noise

I would thank those who answered my questions about putting a superC motor and bellhousing in a super A. I got it together and it runs great. Problem is that I bought the super A stuck before I put in the engine and now that it runs I hear a clicking in rearend next to the instrument cluster down by the platform. It stops when I push the clutch down. It does have adequate oil and the oil looks to be clean. Any comments what would be wrong are welcomed. Gears? Bearings?
Thanks in advance
Jerry

Jerry: Clicking noise usually indicates damaged teeth on gears. Could be at release bearing of clutch. Remember this driveline noises can travel and fool you. Trucks are a prime example. I have seen guys pull transmissions only to find problem at rear end. Best advise is listen carfully, get others to listen as you drive by, get them to drive by and you listen. Another good idea is stethiscope, move it around as you drive. Of course the cheap steathiscope, just broom handle, amazing what you can hear. That one can get a bit rough on the ear for moving checks.

Keep in mind that gear noise is normal in these tractors due to how the gears were made--they mesh head-on.

The clicking/clunking noise doesn't sound normal though. At least my Super A never made that noise.

I have a 1940 (a) that made the same noise when I got it back together. On the bottom side of the tourque tube there is an access hole, try adjusting your clutch tighter with the adjusting nuts on the clutch rod. This will put more tension between the throughout bearing and the pressure plate. Did you replace the throughout bearing ? If the bearing is bad this may not resolve the noise.

It was a striped oil slinger on my A that made the clicking. jimmy
