Boys in the shop gave me a round steel fuel tank,can anyone tell me how to figure it's gallon capacity? It's 55" long by 34" diameter.Thanks in advance for any help.Thanks,Chris in SeMo.

55 in.=4.583 ft
34 in=2.833 ft.
2.833x2.833x.785x4.583=28.874
28.874x7.48{gallons per cu.ft}=216 Gallons

Volume of a cylinder is found by radius squared X pi. X length of cylinder. My reckonings get 289 X 3.1416 X 55 = 49935.732cubic inches. Divide by 231 to get liquiid gallons = 216.172 gallons give or take.
