There is a book on prototype farmall tractors. As I recall the f-12 was tagged as f-10 during the early days of testing. The waukesha 3x4 flathead was used on the first 4000 or so tractors in 1932 and early 1933. It sounds as though you have a rare bird. Dont let anyone talk you out of it. Dal

Was the tag on the middle of the hood or under the gas tank? Early F-12 serial numbers were riveted to the hood. Changed location somewhere around FS-2000.

Never heard of a F11, but the first year of the F12 had a flathead Waukeshaw engine. I have a poster showing this tractor, and it looks like any other F12 except for the flathead engine.
Did you look for a serial number on the tag?

Guy Fay's "International Harvester Experimental and Prototype Tractors" shows a F-10 which appears to have a flathead engine on page 86. A quick scan of the text does not mention an F-11, maybe Guy will answer. He says that the F-12 was produced for a short time with an engine from an outside supplier, while IH was working on their own engine.
