Hound, The "Good old politicians" discovered something a long time ago, and that was that we would believe them if they promised something, be it a new service or a new entitlement. We would listen to them and let ourselves believe that if we would just leave it to them, we wouldnt have to do things for ourselves. And the best part is that it is all free. Well, almost free , maybe just a simple 1% increase to our taxes. Folks, it doesnt take rocket science to realize that you only vote in a 1% increase once a year for just one new service or entitlement, for 30 years and you have more than a 30% increase in taxes. Not to mention the bureaucracies required to administer all this "Free service". We weren't even satisfied with all that, we also believed that that same "Good old politician" needed to do something about the "Other guy" by restricting and regulating him, thus creating even more beaucracy and more tax to enforce these regulations on "The other guy". We cheered when they told us that they would tax more heavily the rich than the rest of us, thus creating a tax system that costs all of us dearly just for the cost of compliance. We were even niave enough to believe that none of this would ever impact us out in the country. Not until we could no longer dig a ditch, spray our crops for pests and weeds, build a cattle barn, raise hogs, fill in low spots, drive our tractors, and equipment down some roads, allow our underage kids to hoe or worse drive a tractor. our 'Good old Politicians" are exactly what we made of them. Don't blame them, blame US.
