I'm building my first pulling tractor and i was wondering how much you can bore and stroke a super m. i've heard that chevy 400 pistons and a 6.5in stroke will work. i also heard something about jd 4020 pistons. also if someone could tell me if a 221 out of a ih 315 combine will fit into a 460 and what i need to do to make it work.

I'm only 18 so every bit of info would be greatly appreciated!!!

get onto piston manufacturers websites, there are several that will custom-build them, con rods too. try not to get the cylinder walls too thin if you dont use sleeves. Deck plate wouldn't hurt if you could find one, if money is no problem someone makes them using head gaskets as a pattern. Simulates stresses from torquing down the head so the bore is true when the heads are on, worth a couple horses. dont think its neccesary if you use sleeves though. Could go with a DT360 or a 414 in there if you aren't pulling farm stock.

The only limit to the bore and stroke is the $$$ You should keep durability in mind. the bigger it is the more upkeep. Why a 221 into a 460??? There are alot of bigger cid motors out there which will bolt in. Yes it will fir but you will need the tractor manifold, rear plate, flywheel, front mount, and i believe the fan and hardware.
