Would a turbo or super be effective on one of these machines? I was thinking like a super M or super C?

Or do the engines just stay at rpms too low to spin a turbo?

This one was on the tractor when I bought it I ask quite a while back if i should leave it on or take it off Everyone said leave it on. I haven't had any trouble with the bottom end but I don't work it hard

While I have seen that picture before and enjoy looking at it, it should be noted that it is a diesel despite the MTA decal.

Diesels are easier to convert and are stronger as well. Five main bearings, as found in the diesels, are a huge improvement over all of IH's three main bearing four cylinder gas engines.

The gas cranks do break, I have a parts 400 with a broken crank.

There are a few people out there that have done something similar to this. The thing you are going to run into is you will have to re-do the entire air intake system. These are draft type of carbs where the air being sucked into the engine sucks the gas along with it. Most of the cars and such with turbos are fuel injected or the entire air intake system was designed for the turbo. I can't imagine a Super C exhausting enough air to spin a turbo very fast. You would have to have a pretty small turbo to get the exhaust moving fast enough. Just my $0.02 worth.

Well the biggest problem with adding a turbo is that if you don't beef up the bottom of the engine you will blow it out the bottom. Or in other words you can't just add something like a turbo with out doing something to the bottom of the engine because they where not made to handle that much more compression, yes they will work but you could also brake rods and or a crank in a stock engine
