This gentleman has a 400 Diesel start's and run's, but run's rough. Narrow front, just drawbar. He was asking 1500 but said he would take 1000.00 if I bought it today. He said if I come back tomorrow it would be 1200.00 What do you guy's think? Thanks in advance.

Marc,

Even at $1500 that sounds ok to me. I paid about a thousand more for a 400D that ran ok but was in really bad shape cosmetically...only some of the tin was there, and it was hard to tell where the tractor was under all the grease and grime. 3 of tires had to be replaced too. Looking back, I probably paid too much, but Farmalls are pretty scarce in Utah, so that might boost the price here.

A 400D at $1k, sounds pretty good. If you dont want it, let me know where/who has it. Thanks, Greg

I would investigate why it runs rough.

Clogged fuel filters?
Bad fuel pump?
Worn out injectors
Does it use oil
Compression OK?
Does it run throughout the RPM range
If the engine is shot or nearly she ain't worth much.

I'd wait a few days and see if he calls. Then I would tell him I'd give him the $1000. (If you think it is worth that)
