Brought home another M yesterday and decided to part it out, good thing! When I pulled the head There are #2&3 sleeves broke off at the top. They are the 4 inch egg shell sleeves and one is down about an inch and the other down about 3 inches. Is there something that would have caused this to happen? Bet it made one heck of a racket!

I've seen it before, not too uncommon, but when your trying to pull those non broken dry sleeves like I am on a SH at the moment, ya almost wish they HAD broken!

do you still have the head gasket? If I remember correctly this can happen if the wrong head gasket is used.

Only thing I can think is maybe it seized up tight real quick. Maybe they weren't set in the block quite right. Just a guess. Never ceases to amaze me the things that can happen to these tractors.

What kind of mechanic finds a problem like that and doesn't look at the head gasket and everything else in the general area of the problem?

I'd be inclined to wonder how it cam to be put together such that a thing like that might happen. I never heard nor seen such a thing.
Maybe something wrong with the sleeves?
