There are three gauges on my Super A, one oil pressure, one ampmeter, and one I can't read. It is mounted above the hydraulic hand controls and goes into the left side of tractor when seated. I'd like to know what to replace it with. Thanks

Charlie: It records hydraulic oil temperature. Those never did record anything, so IH stopped putting them on after the 100 came out. I questioned once if mine was even working, and submerged the sensor in very hot oil, it works, yet never records any increase on tractor.

Hugh, I have often wondered if those gauges would actually register anything. I think it would probably show an increase in temp if you had something hooked up that was striking the underside of the tractor such that the touch control couldn't complete its cycle. Of course, it looks like then with the howling the pump would make, you would certainly know something was wrong!!

This reminds me of the temp. gauge on my Super A. When I had it overhauled I included a new gauge from C&G. After my mech. got it back together, he was worried about it heating, to the point he finally put a water pump on. When he showed me the new pump, he commented "your temp gauge doesn't even work!" A while back I put it in a pot of water on the stove and boiled it, gauge came right up. I guess when I take that water pump back off I won't have to worry about it overheating!

That's because it's on the cooled water side, not the hot.

Could be an engine temp gauge. Most likely a temp gauge for the touch control hydraulic unit.
