I have a IH 1066 and it has a lot of slack in the spindle arm where it connects to the spindle. Tried tightning the nut as tight as it will go with washers and it is still loose. Is there any way of taking up the slack without welding it solid or replacing it with new parts which is very expensive. Thanks for any good advice.

If the slack is in between upright shaft and axle tube I have seen people split a piece of pvc pipe and use it. Keep it greased and it will last a long time

Take it all apart, clean real good and fill the joint with some JB Weld or similar metal epoxy (the liquid kind) and put back together and let sit overnight. Neighbor did this on a 966 about 15 years ago he reckons and is still tight as new. Other guys just weld them, but then you have some problems if you ever have to take it apart. Then you are forced to buy new parts after cutting the old ones apart. Good luck!

My neighbor had the same problem, he had removed the spindle assembly, along withthe spindle linkage, and had a 1/2 hole drilled and had it pinned, Tack welded the pin tightened the assembly and been together ever since. Hope this helps,
