Yesterday I was watching Modern Marvels on the History Channel. An episode called " More Earthmovers."
There was a segment on plowing, mostly archival films from the '30s. Lotsa steel wheels pulling bottom plows. What I could see were mostly Farmalls, including an F-20, 14, one of those, on rubber. Unfortunately, being under the MTV influence, they think we have no attention span and don't show more than a few seconds of any shot, 'bout the time you're sure what you see they cut to something else. Even so, it was a delight.

How about the 140 pulling a Mardi Gras float in "Easy Rider".

I saw that too and was also disappointed that they didn't show longer clips of them working.

An annual rite of Christmas time now, so it appears, are marathon runnings of the almost cult movie, "A Christmas Story". Every year the family gathers to watch this movie at my brother's house. In a parade scene from the movie, a new-looking Farmall H is seen pulling a float. There are a couple of good shots of it. This movie is said to be "set" in 1940. We get a kick out of the producers that took the time to get the vintage of the tractor correct.

No...my orignal home was in Indiana. My dad still lives there.
I live outside Houston. Never owned an H, drove the neighbor's a lot. I have a 300, 450D, a hot-rod Super A, and a green utility.
Maybe after I retire I will go back. I am working on my 3rd retirement check...got 3 more years to think about it before I retire again.
