Both of the previous are correct. My MTA has the pin, but at least once a year if I am not careful and keep an eye on it, it will wiggle loose and I end up with a tractor in gear and the shift arm loose in my lap. The pins come loose and if they roll off the deck, well....that's where the bolt comes in.

pull it apart and you will see how it is made. the pin needs to fit snug. Going by memory I believe it was a 7/16 pin. But the hole gets worn. i have drilled them the next size bigger (1/2 I think)There were soft plugs to keep the pin from coming out but I suspect the ridge is worn off too.

A large number of the old farmalls had the pin replaced with a bolt and nut. I have three and they all have the bolt. I believe on one of mine my dad put the bolt in. Something about the pins get worn and wont stay in the casting.
