Just purchase a new set of rims for a Cub the loops are not for square head bolts the new loops are smaller what do you do use a longer bolt with a flat washer on the outside of the loop ?

I purchased new rims for my Farmall B and they require carrage bolts. I bought them at the same plase I purchased the rims. They will have correct length in their books.

Rex: If they are the same as the wheels I bought for my Super A, I don't think I would try the carriage bolt idea. At least make sure that hole is going to hold a carriage bolt from turning. I looked at this with mine, decided carriage bolt would be a headache. I just use a hex head bolt and put them in so head on the rim side. Now you have to get someone else to hold the other wrench, another great non idea from the after market. By the way my wheels came from CaseIH. Most of what they are selling for these old tractors is after market, as they don't make it anymore.

Hugh:

Gordon says HI! It is minus 26 today with a wind chill of -42.... which for all south of the 49th is the same as -42F..... We got blizzard conditions, too cold to go anywhere, staying home and making lots of fires.

Rudi: It would be a great day at the head of thr Tantramar Marsh, somewhere around Point-a-Bute. I have been there on a day like you are having. It's -13c here right now, was -19C early this morning. We are suposed to get 15 to 25 cm of snow tonight. I went out this morning just to make sure the Farmall 130 was in shape for tomorrow morning plowing. I topped the fluids up added a bit of methyl hydrate to gas tank. I specifically went there to change points, but flesh was unwilling. I tried the tractor, it fired right up, thought if engine was warm, the point job would go a bit easier. Old point are still in tractor.

Speaking of Gordon, tell him I got one of those e mails that people send to their ageing friends, from his kid brother. It starts out, I can't remember if I sent you this, and you can guess the rest of it.

Does Gordon have 3 tractors by now? You never told me what you have for tractors? Sounded like Cubs were in the fore front.

Hugh:

Well, today would be a great day for wind turbines. Gusts between 80 and 98 kph here, so I imagine be well over 100 on the marsh. Sustained winds ar 66kph.. it is a might nippy.

Gordon does have three now - the H, Super A and the Cub -- all restored. I still have to scan his Super A but the pics of his Cub and a few of the H are on the Cub Manual Server at the link below. After you get to the server, click on the Cub and Implement Gallery and then Gordon's Cub I think it is.

Me, well my pics are there too. Ellie-Mae and Jethro. Neither is restored yet, Ellie is a working tractor and Jethro, well he is in serious and I do mean serious need of plenty of TLC. Gonna be fun playing with him. Got the parts all lined up - just got to save up the cash for em...

Meanwhile, I think I will do some more scanning as I sit in the basement beside the furnace making fires.....

Cheers

I went to Ace Hardware, got number eight hard bolts and self locking nuts the fit the loop holes and long enough to get a full nut plus on each of them. I put the cub rims on one of my A.C B models. worked great all the time I used it. hope this is some help to you.
