When tennaco bought I.H. and combined it with case, Why did they drop the I.H. line and not the Case. Even though they combined the name and changed the color wasn't that esentialy the end for a true I.H. At that time wasn't there a lot more I.H. owners than Case. Also please correct me if any of the info. in my above question is incorrect. Thanks

Has anyone seen the new 35 thru 70 series Farmalls. I was waiting for my daughter and decided to drive down to the local IH dealer, there were several "new" tractors with the Farmall label on them.... Long live Farmall.. Is this an attempt by Tennaco to stop the "new" MCCormick line?

Tenneco has nothing to do with Case anymore- they sold off Case just about 10 years ago now.

So is Case a stand alone company now? If not, who owns them?

Case no longer exists either as a stand alone company. It was merged with New Holland a couple years ago. New Holland is owned by Fiat of Italy.

that is not true. case is still alive and active still, but silently, owned by tenneco. I work in foundry that makes all the larger case tractor castings. we have met with case executives numerous time in that last 2 months. new production to start next month. but to all, tenneco still calls all the shots for case, i know this to be a fact.

Essentially, Tenneco kept everything except some of the factories themselves. Case didn't have combines, very limited implements, and their tractor line was discontinued either when the Magnums went into production in Racine, when Case bought Steiger and shut down Case 4wd production (and IH had owned half of Steiger for years), or when they shut down the David Brown production in favor of the European small IH tractors at Doncaster and Neuss.

The only thing not IH about the Magnums was the engines, and Tenneco didn't buy the engine line, International/Navistar kept it.

The Magnum, except for the engine, was the tractor that I H was going to build. The trans and rear frame were the same as 50-5488.
