Oh boy got the rebuilt TA installed today. Thats it all the new parts are installed. Now its just a matter of getting her put back togather. On this project. I replaced the rear main engine oil seals. Replaced the pilot bearing. Replaced the clutch. Replaced the clutch throw out bearing. Replaced the TA clutch throw out bearing. Replaced the TA. Replaced 5 gears in the transmision. and a bunch of seals and gaskets.
Wont be needing to slit this one again any time soon. I hope.

Kelly, first of all, let me say congratulations on getting the TA in. I've been following your progress on here for some time. Is this a one out one in operation, or do you have to disassemble the TA unit to remove and replace? Probably a dumb question, but I was just wondering because I've got a 350 Utility that I'm going to have to go into. Did you get it from Steel Wheel Ranch? Are these good people to deal with? Thanks in advance, Todd.

R&R the unit. I got it from Steel wheel ranch.
I cant core the old one as the gears in the back is chipped.
I had no problems with the people at Steel wheel ranch. Every thing went smooth.
From talking to him I believe he has a local guy that does the rebuilding for him on the TA's.

I guess I will hang on to this old TA. Its got a good planitary set just the ramp and rollers are bad. SO if I find one that the shaft is good but the planitary is bad I can make another one.

did you buy a rebuilt ta or did you rebuild it yourself? where did you get your parts? I am going to have to do my 400, and need to get parts lined up for it.

I purchased a rebuilt unit from Steel wheel ranch.
$399 + $100 core and about $60 for complete gasket/seal set for TA job. Sprag type not ramp and roller type.
I was going to rebuid mine but the transmision input shaft on my TA had some chips in it. I had to eat the $100 core charge as you have to send one back in rebuildable condition and the ate up shaft killed that.
