I have an IH Cub. Problem is I'm moving to Tampa, FL from Pittsburgh, PA and I don't know the year or value. The serial number is 241257J. I would at least like to know the year and then I can research from there. If anyone knows what year that SN would represent, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Chris:

Dan is almost bang on. Your Cub is a 1973. Serial numbers for 1973 start at 240581 and run through to 242745.

Your serial number 241257J most definitely falls within the 73 production year. The J signifies that it is a Rockford Clutch and not an Auburn.

If you want to learn more about your Cub, then I would suggest the following.

Click on the link below and visit the Manual Server. Tons of info. You can also access the ATIS FAQ's, The Best of H.L. Chauvin, and all kinds of other info on Cubs.

Two other forums that specialize in all things Cub are:

www.farmalcub.com
www.atis.net

Both are wonderful sources of information.

Kurt, if your serial number falls in the 200,000 region then your Cub was built sometime between 1957 - 198231 to 204388 and 1979 when the last Cub Serial number 253685 was built.

If your Cub is a 51, then the serial number should fall somewhere between 121454 and 144454.

Hope this helps.

I had a 51 cub and my serial # was right around the one you gave. I dont remember the exact # but it was 245,000 or something like that.

Check the link below Chris. Looks to be a 1972. Dan Robertson
