I am trying to date my Super A.
The original operator manual states that the tractor serial number is located on a plate below and on the left side of the seat. That number is 353769.
This web site has a web page that states:
The Serial Number is located on the left side of the clutch or transmission housing . So if I go there the serial number is 351687. So which one is correct? If I pick the first number it is 1954 if I pick the second it is 1953.

Brad: Are these numbers on serial tags. I am looking at this from a point of view that someone built a tractor from two tractors. Super C, 200, 230, 240,100, 130 and 140 all had the serial plate on the left side of clutch housing and that part is same on all. Only one problem, none of them had serial numbers in excess of 175,000.

There is one other possibility Super A1 from serial number 356001 to 357958. Is there a possibility the number on clutch housing is 357687 rather than 351687. The serial number of the Super A1 is on the clutch housing, and those numbers could be somewhat worn by now.

Two other questions. Does your tractor have a water pump? How much space between hydraulic resovoir and fuel tank? You look at all those possibilities and let us know, we will resolve this.

The serial number on a Super A should be on a plate under the seat. The number you quoted on the transmission, is that stamped on a plate or cast into the part itself. If cast it is almost definately a part number. You can also look on the block just beneath the number one spark plug. If your tractor still has its original engine there will be a flat spot there with a serial number on it that will be close to (but probably not the same as) the one under the seat. I think you'll find that this site is wrong about the location as it was the models after the Super A that had the serial number plate on the tranny. Hope this helps. SAm in NS

Thanks for all the feedback. Yes, the number to left of clutch is not a plate but raised lettering (molded as part of the cast).
So now I know.

I sure hope someone else answers your question. If it were my tractor, I would think I had the front of a 140 and the rear of a Super A.
