I've recently come across a very early model H (don't know the serial number). The tires are poor and the paint is also poor. I was told it was running when it was last parked inside the barn. I'm going to offer $800. Do you think this is a fair price? The tin appears straight but it has no weights.

I live in western PA and purchased an H about 5 years ago. It was my first tractor and I paid way too much for it. When I was shopping the classifieds and local tractor guys, I had a hard time finding a decent usable tractor for under $1000. My tractor was "parade ready" and I paid $1700 for it. Not very smart on my part since I don't have a place to store it inside and I only use it for utility work. I could have bought a rusty workhorse for less $$$ and have the same usefulness. Live and learn. I tried to sell the H a few years ago. It runs great and has an aftermarket 3 point. About the only way to sell the H is to give it away. Everyone around here wants 4 wheel tractors so they overpay for 8Ns and TOs.

i have to agree with everyone ,although i am pro red power i must say that for 800.00 you should be able to go right to work on it its probably worth 300 to 400

Earl
That H would have to run good have all straight
sheet metal and be on good rubber to be worth 800.00.
I bought a clean perfect running H on nearly new tires with a nice working loader for 600.00
I think you better shop around because they made about 1/2 million of these things and half of these are still around doing work.

I bought one with a seized engine, ok tin, and with 3 tires that barely hold air for $250 plus $50 for delivery about 6 weeks ago.

Early H's don't mean to much in terms of value unless they are a 39. Seems like collectors seek out either the 39 or the later ones like the super H's and the big span in the middle are just H's. The weights (I assume you are talking about wheel weights), they were sort of an extra option along with fenders so no real big deal that it don't have them. I bought a rusty 42 H that run, bad tires, tin was a little ruff for $150. That was to cheap. I wouldn't pay $800 for one unless it was running while I was righting out the check. I would offer $500. I've seen alot of running H's sell for $700.

they all ran the last time they were used. $800 sounds like big money for a non-running tractor with poor tires. Where do you live? maybe I can bring a load?
