have spotted a 1953 or 1954 Farmall H. Serial is 18187G. Is this a stage 1 or stage 2 model?

Do you mean Super H? Then everything would make sense!

I just got my Guy Fay Tractor Data Book yesterday. The way that I am reading it this is a 1940 with the cotton picker option. I would gladly stand corrected if I am reading this wrong. There were a total of 390,317 H's produced according to page 93 of my manual.

if the suffix is X1G its a high speed gear if its a X3G its a high altitude high speed gear. What state are you located in? Thanks Pat

Pat: This is a Texas Tractor. Haven't actually seen it yet but hope to look at next week.

Late 1953...last one in 53 was 22201. If it has engine driven hydraulics, its stage 2. If it has the old transmission driven pump, its stage 1.
According to Guy Fays book, your tractor was a cotton picker?

According to Guy Fay's book, serial number 18187 should have been made in the later part of 1953. The numbers for 1953 were 501-22201. The way I understand it, Stage I was the larger engine and disk breaks. In Stage II the Super C seat and live hydraulics were added. These would be easy things to notice if you can see the tractor. I don't know enough to tell you about the G at the end. They used several prefixes to denote models and options, such as X1 for gasoline engine. Maybe someone with more experience can tell us what the G is for.
