it's on my list

I got 6 books on farm equipment already, not to mention who knows how many sale brochures, I guess a few more wouldn't hurt.

150 yrs IH; My neighbor has it. Its not perfect
but it is a darn good historical reference. It has an exhaustive spread of tractor, crawler models and many implements depicted. Many
IH enthusiasts should have access to this work.

I have his Nebraska Test book and Mom has the 150 Years of IHC book. Both are great works. I suspect Wendel and his staff were due for a long vacation after poring over the Nebraska Test archives for all the information he needed for his work. That was a Herculean task! The Nebraska Test book is a bit clumsy in that its hard to do a real fast look up of one particular tractor. This book was written when PCs were in their infancy, and armed with the computer power that most of us have now, I'm sure Mr. Wendel would have compiled more data tables. Most of the data for our web site's Test Table came from his Nebraska Test book. We give full acknowledgment of that on our site. He did a remarkable job. I've found his data, at least so far, to be the most complete. Still am looking for a source for 'corrected' HP figures though.

Farmallkid: I have the book 150 Years of IH by Wendel. I also have his books on Oliver, Encylopedia of American Farm Tractors and the Nebraska Test book. I find Wendel didn't go into as much detail as he could have on some items, but given records of companies it was likely best that could be done over 20 years ago.

I know he also did a number of books on other manufacturers as well. Does anyone know which companies he did? I used to have a listing on this, but can't seem to locate it anymore.

Yep,I got it.Its alright I reckon.I got some issues on how he covered some things, but that may not have been his fault.I wish he,or someone, would do a more updated version of it.

Yes, I have a copy - Yes, I like it. A very good resource, a bit brief on a few topics - but that is to be expected for the time it was written. IE the IH 600 tractor, it says there just isn't any information available about it, but now we know the facts.

Wendel is one of the great authors for this hobby, kudos to him and all the other greats (Guy Fay, Ken Updike, and more...)

I don't have one myself, but have been able to borrow one and look at it one time. Excellant book. Almost like going to a muesum by just opening it up and thumbing through.

Not a bad book at all...some interesting ommisions but nothing is perfect in everybodys eyes.

I've got a copy of The Nebraska Tractor Tests that goes up to about 1985 if memory serves.
Does anybody know if there is a second book that goes on from the point the first book stopped?

Thanks!
