Super A vs. C hood revisited

Last post - I asked if the Hoods off of a C will fit (interchangable) on a Super A. General result is that a C hood is 1 1/16 inch longer, (As measured by Chad at OEM tractor parts as suggested by gracious responder). So where does the extra length fit, in front, in middle or at rear. Same motor. The next question is, are the grills interchangable? I'm aware of the height differences 'tween a Super C, Super A-1 and the Super A,(due to the larger radiator and water pump, but will a regular C grill interchange with a Super A grill? See, the thing is I'm redoing a '50 Super A, and I had bought a '50 C for a parts tractor. The C had much nicer grill and hood, I swapped the Super A hood and grill with the C hood and Grill. Then I sold the C with the Super A grill and hood, disassembled which went with it. Will the C grill work OK on the Super A or have I outsmarted myself, just like the hood?

Incidently, ended up buying the new hood from OEM. Got a real nice C hood if'n your interested.

Can't win for loosin....

Dave, I'm glad that Chad from O.E.M. was able to help you with the hood issue. I was by no means trying to be a broker but I have talked to Chad before on other things, and he has been of great help, and always willing to share whatever knowlege he has on the subject, whether he profits monetarily or not. There are so many people in this genre that bend over backwards to help a fellow enthusiast. The "C" grill should work on your "A" with a little fitting here and there, mostly around the steering gear housing. While the opposite side will have a diagonal cut at the bottom of the "C" grill, I wouldnt worry about the correct police. It aint their tractor. I have found that they only comment negatively when someone is blatently trying to misrepresent their tractor which certainly is not the case with most people, you included. Most people like yourself just want to take an old tractor, and recondition it to the point to where it is functionable and/or pleasing to the eye. My attitude to the correct police is that when they start spending the money, then they can criticize my work. I don't know how many tractor shows you have attended, but the ones I have attended have tractors of all stages from rusty bent up bald tired tractors fresh from the barnyard to tractors spit and polished professionally restored correct in every detail. Most tractors fall somewhere inbetween. It's mainly what suits you that is important.

Thanks men, I'll do some "Dry fitting" prior to putting the final finishes on it. I studied on the parts manual a little tonight, and can see the obvious differences in the grill after s/n 355669. I don't have a C parts manual to compare the part No.s. Still doesn't make sense to me what would have changed the length anyway, same motor and chassis length through the whole run from beginning to end? Whatever. As far as the "Correct Police", the only one I listen to is myself. I have a fast hitch on this '50 Super A, a chromed valve cover, and a fast hitch on a '53 Cub. That would set some off their rocker anyway. If I could figure how to post a photo, I'd show you where I'm at in this project?
O.E.M has been very good to work with, I had bought parts there prior to your suggestion, worked out good as I had some stuff ordered that Hadn't yet shipped, this way it'll all come together and say a little on shipping.

I have a C grille on my A. Had to modify (cut) grille to fit around A steering box. Looks fine to me but it would never pass inspection by "correct police".
